"This group of primrose is always a standout in the woodland garden because of their tiered, stately flowers. Primula japonica 'Postford White' is very long-lived and fragrant. They need part shade, rich soil and regular watering. Growing 18"" tall, they will quickly establish a good size clump and bloom in mid-to-late spring. The foliage is a medium green, oblong, spoon-shaped, semi-evergreen with finely-toothed margins to 10 inches. Clear white flowers with a red eye are borne in 1 to 6 tiered flower whorls, 5 to 25 on each stalk. Candelabra primroses are wonderful in a moist, shady area of your garden."

This candelabra primrose grows best in open to light shade and protected from hot afternoon sun. Grow in a rich moist to wet soil. This primrose can tolerate sand and clay if the site is moist. Once established it can naturalize, but it is best to start with three to five plants to insure proper pollination and good seed set. Faded flower stems can be removed once the seed has disbursed. In fall cut back any yellowing foliage to tidy up.
